Puliyoor Kali is the daughter of Pulikandan and Pullikarimkali.
Lord Shiva and Parvathi took the form of tigers by the name of Pulikandan and Puli Karimkali respectively and were living happily in the Thulavanam Fores. They had 5 Sons namely Kandapuli, Marapuli, Pulimaruthan, Kaalauli, Puliyoor Kannan and a daughter namely Puliyoor Kali.

Puliyoor Kali is a very ferocious Theyyyam. The performance of Puliyoor Kali is very beautiful and also the continuous rotations of Puliyoor Kali Theyyam with the round hair. Also the Thirumudi Vanakam in which the movement of the Theyyam in which the round hair of the Theyyam almost touches the ground
The story follows these tiger gods and this is why the theyyam has a visible tiger image on his cheeks
