Forts Jacques and Alexandre are two batteries built in the mountains above Port-au-Prince to defend against any attempt by France, Spain, or England to take over the new republic. Fort Jacques is beautifully restored and preserved.

Have not been back to Haiti since these were taken; I have no idea how the forts held up.

Very interesting images. Do you have any idea how these structures stood up to the eathquake? Sad country at this time.
