I"m still reeling over the loss of the little car I bought my daughter
maybe four months ago.
Today I was cycling, and I had forgotten to zip up the saddlebag.
I got home -- no keys. They had fallen out of the bag.
Fortunately my daughter wasn't far away, with a
friend, so she came home to let me in.
Meantime, I thought about what else could go wrong since bad luck
seems to go in threes. Suddenly it occurred to me that I always take my
wallet when I cycle (in case of emergency).
Yep -- you guessed it. No wallet either. Retracing my cycling "steps"
was unproductive. Someone found at least the wallet, and they are
at least $200 richer (yep I had gone to the ATM earlier in the day).
I give up. If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all.
