I think the kit lens got lucky on this one. I also am a little afraid that you are becoming one of those focus monsters like they have over at dpreview. Nah... you take too many creative shots to be one of them.

I surprised to see the Tamron is not sharper than the kit lens. My eyes are not the best but I do believe the Tamron looks soft.
