Across the Years

My parents just emailed me this picture that they found who knows where.
It's me, circa 1972. Yes, I'm sitting on the throne for the picture -- who knows why?

It's rather unnerving to look back at myself nearly thirty five years ago. I can
barely remember the hopes and dreams of the young man I was then -- so much came to
pass that was completely outside the script.

I'm reminded of the line: I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then.

I do remember being quite proud of my long hair. I would never have guessed that
thirty some years later, I would prefer it short!

The picture was badly out of focus and this was the best I could do to restore it.
My father does not have a scanner - he took a picture of the picture with his A75.

Canon PowerShot A75
1/8s f/2.8 at 5.4mm (35mm equivalent: 167mm) full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Gary sits for years in his room waiting for the invention of Photoshop & digital photography. His era would surely come. Pbase domination, then the world

Cool "blast from the past" photo! Your comment about life rings true: we can never foresee how our lives will turn out. Getting older puts a different and more satisfying perspective on things. In 1973, after getting out of the Army, I let my hair grow down to my shoulders. It was fun and made me feel good. But taking care of it was too much work, so within a year I went back to the short style I've had ever since.

I've came across a few old pics myself since I bought a scanner. Might post a few of me since I've posted some of the kids. It is funny how we change and sometimes in unexpected ways.

I can sugest to you, to do your gallery about "I´ve been.." I have one, and I need to post more photos from the past. It is I´ve been, ´cause now when we look to the past memories come to refresh, many dreams, ideas, and all of those "roles" we´ve been during our lifes.

And is funy and great to found your self with the vision you have now and realize that we are still the same person we were before, just with experience and knowledge.
Do it is going to be fantastic and with lot of fun having your "I´ve been..." gallery

I would still have my 'Afro' today, if nature didn't step in and stop my hair growth.
