The End

Whether it's fancy and expensive, and made of marble, or just a simple stone,
or even a cremation, we are all headed toward the inevitable.
The most common epitaph I saw on tombstones was -- "Gone But Not Forgotten"

Is that our greatest fear? That we'll be forgotten?

Please see my PaD Wannabe (a selective desat of this image)

Nice wide angle shot.

I don't recall who said it, but I saw it in the PaD somewhere; "So long as there is someone left to say your name, you will never die." I make it a point to remember the names of friends and close family that have passed just for that reason.

Good choice. I think as long as the kids put flowers out every once in a while, and bring the great grand kids around to play on the site, I can rest easy.

I like this one best. Very nice shot. I don't fear death... I fear immortality. Have you read 'Oryx and Crake' by Margaret Atwood.... that's where we are headed :-)

Imposing shot. Like your choice.

Wonderful perspective and theme...although the subject is a tomb and signifies the end, the feeling the photo gives me is a sense of something to look forward to on the other side...calm, serene and a peaceful.

I think you made the right choice. The color is more joyful and meaningful.

This one is better Gary.
And yes, I think a desire for immortality (not immorality) is in many of us. Certainly fits me.

I do like this one much more than the other, Gary. The vivid colors give a sense of peace and hope.
