The End Is In Sight

No, this isn't a zebra. Let's see who can be the first to
correctly identify this animal...

Nice close crop. Great abstract.

Looks like a zebra to me!

Darn, now I've read the comments and saw that Carmen figured it out. Good job Carmen. Neat shot, Gary.

Is it a tiger, Gary? Whatever it is, what an unusual perspective.
Jude Marion29-Oct-2004 11:14
Hmmm ... well it doesn't have a white stripe down its tail, so it ISN'T a skunk!
I dunno ...!
Karen Leaf29-Oct-2004 03:25
Whoa, have never seen such an animal. (This is a really weird picture as I'm sitting looking at the thumb. Squint a little and imagine you've never seen this beast before..) Great shot!

Great shot! Love how the black fades into the background. Very nicely done.

Great shot Gary , wonderful markings .
Guest 28-Oct-2004 18:28
Or maybe a white feather against a black background... very nice
Guest 28-Oct-2004 18:27
This is fantastic Gary. From the thumbnail I thought it was some crazy white fern-like plant with leaves spreading out to either side. Well done!
Pepe Zyman28-Oct-2004 16:34
Gary, are you sure?
It looks like the Tijuana donkey on Revolucion :^)

Russ, no, but I do take advantage of my membership! It's paid for itself many times over now! And, as Robin says, the Zoo is a target-rich environment!
Gary Winters28-Oct-2004 15:15
Herb, actually this one lives in the original San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park. He's housed near the tiger exhibits, right next door to the rhino. I waited and waited and waited for him to turn around, but he wouldn't, so I had to settle for a picture of his backside!
Guest 28-Oct-2004 15:12
This is a excellent picture!!
Guest 28-Oct-2004 14:52
A package of Fruit Strip gum?? Nice shot, Gary! Seriously, do you work at a zoo??
Guest 28-Oct-2004 14:25
Wonderful shot! I like how the black lines blend with the background and creates a wierd abstract. It's like one of those optical illusions where you can see two things in one image depending on which you focus on. Very neat indeed!

Okapi! Very terrific finish on this one GW!

Man it has been ages since I have been to the Wild Animal Park. I understand it has really changed.

Oh MAN!! I really thought it was a Zebracorn!!!
Gary Winters28-Oct-2004 06:36
Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner here! Carmen is right! Although a zebracorn is a great idea! ;-)
Carmen28-Oct-2004 06:33
Okapi!
Guest 28-Oct-2004 06:25
I still would say it's a zebra. Anyway I like it a lot!
Guest 28-Oct-2004 06:15
