Grasshopper

All I had in hand was my 50mm 1.8, so this is the best I could do. Plus, I still don't understand the focusing zones on the Rebel, and I was shooting in P mode. It kept wanting to focus on a nearer leaf, not the bug. Found myself wishing a) I knew what I was doing, b) I had a macro lens, and/or c) if I had my A70, I'd have gotten a better shot. Oh well! Still had fun...

wow Gary, this is great, I don't know why you would want it any different, this is GREAT! And your comment about knowing what you are doing sounds just like me. If you get any good info on the focusing lengths ect. let me know, will ya? I am still in a learning phase, I believe I always will be. ;-)

I have that problem too Gary. When a camera is in my hands, I tend to get too excited to remember the "rules" required for focusing at times. Or any other rules for that matter.

LOL, I'm hearing you!

Thanks, Karen! I've downloaded and read the document, and it helps. I think there's a lot to remember, for one thing, and when I'm out in "the wild," I can't remember the details. It would probably help me to focus (no pun intended) on one thing at a time, experiment, shoot lots of practice shots, and then move to the next thing. But that would be too logical. I get too excited with a camera in my hand and things to photograph to employ the discipline of learning all the nuances in a structured way. Thanks again for the DPF file...

Will you guys conference me in?
Karen Leaf06-Jul-2004 01:15
Gary, whether or not you intended, this shot is good. Someplace in the deep dark recesses of my comp I have a grid that 'tries' to explain the focus/metering areas of the Dreb. I don't understand it, but maybe you will and explain it, to me. I'll send it on if/when I can find it. And if you don't know what you're doing and can do this, I'm quitting now :)

Gary ... regardless... you did A GREAT Job. (and call me if you want the answer to your focus question.)
