Butterfly

Posting early; travel tomorrow!

I had gone to Balboa Park to photograph the Rose Garden and practice
using fill flash, only to discover all the rose bushes had been cut
back -- no blooms!

Then I found a small flower bed, and this butterfly posing on one of
the orange flowers. He was alternately folding and unfolding his wings.
He gave me at least two minutes to practice taking his picture, and
I was so excited to get this one!

So yes, even though the exif data probably says not, I DID use flash.

EDIT: After posting, I must say I'm quite disappointed with how this looks
on pbase. It looked wonderful on my monitor before posting! :-(

Very nice - I like the way the flower just peeks out from behind the butterfly

Excellent summer image. Great to see that somewhere in the world temperature are actually above 0C.

Looks fine to me Gary, but PBase does change the quality, colors and sometimes also the sharpness of images. Scott's comment on sRGB might help.

lol - that link didn't work then - it must've looked like an image!
Tryhttp://regex.info/exif.cgi - and plug the url to your image (put .jpg on the end) in manually :)

Fabulous capture - they usually fly off when I'm trying this!! Those bits of orange flower look great peeking out from underneath!
As Scott says, your jpg is uncalibrated but the image is in AdobeRGB, which will look a bit flat in most browsers.
Have a look at- that says you used flash :-)

This looks lovely to me, Gary. However, I downloaded the image so I could view the full Exif data and it shows the ColorSpace as "Uncalibrated". You might try converting the color profile to sRGB before uploading to the web. All web browsers recognize the sRGB colorspace, but many of them have troubles with anything else. Just a thought.

Flip my world. Stuck here in the deep grey throws of Winter. Talk of Roses, flowers or butterflies will be months away. I need to come hang with you a few days.

I like it here on my Mac. Excellent.

Looks great on my screen! Pbase seems to diminish the quality of images though, colors and clarity sometimes look muted after uploading. This shot is a winner!
