Five exposures

I developed the original in Lightroom, producing five different exposures from -2EV to +2EV in order to get a full range of tones for the final image
NB: The camera was handheld for this pic
For HDR photography, it is usually recommended to use a tripod and use in-camera bracketing to produce the different exposures needed

I loaded the five exposures in Photomatix Pro to combine into one HDR (high dynamic range) image. The final - and most important - step is the tone mapping process. This finetunes the final result. Tone mapping adjustments include white point, black point, shadow and highlight detail, shadow and highlight smoothing, saturation, and contrast strength
I play around with all of these till I get a result I like
