_MG_7458 Does Velveteen Attract Lint?

Do cockroaches multiply? Thank God for the Spot Healing Tool in Photoshop! Cleaned up some folds in the backdrop with the healing tool and darkened the black. Bindi was a bit of a challenge because she needs a bit of obedience training, but with the help of my homemade liver cookies she learned to sit and stay. For this shot I used a 580ex on the camera with a Lumiquest Promax Pocket Bouncer and another 580ex slaved into an umbrella at the right. On the left was a Sunpak 383 sitting on a slave trigger, bounced off another umbrella. It was set in manual mode and I cut down on the power until I like the way the light looked after shooting some test shots. Challenges I encountered were two glints in each eye. One was a kind of fuzzy one from the umbrella and the other was a sharp dot from the flash on the camera. In editing I eliminated the dot from the on-camera flash. I lightened the irises a bit and increased the saturation to give the eyes more color. Darkened the rims of the irises. Lightened and red-desaturated the whites of the eyes. Since the groomer gave her a flat-top I selected the fur at the top of her head, copied and pasted it and then transformed it and warped it to make it fit in and conform to the outline of her head. Bits and pieces of fur were painted in where her coat was too uneven. On side of the fur on her muzzle was a bit light so I "borrowed" some fur from below that space, copied and pasted it. Note: I've been told that using a silver lined umbrella will give more definition to fur, so I'm going to pick up a couple for dogs. I have a white-silver-black sandwich kind made by Eclipse. They measure 42" across, but in the B & H catalog I see only 45". Either size seems to be right for my setup.

Fantastic shot. Goes to show that all the good work you put in is worth it in the final result.

What a nice portrait. And what a cute dog. And Isabel, you did a great job of touching up her grooming, even if it "was" in photoshop versus with clippers and scissors!
