My Olympus C2100uz, affectionately dubbed the "Uzi" by many fans, is only a 2.1 megapixel camera but it can produce some knockout images. Not wanting the camera to die in the closet I took it out this morning and put some new Sanyo 2700 mAh batteries in it. They're supposed to have a slower discharge rate than "normal" nimh batteries. The camera for this picture was set in Sports Mode, with the Macro switch on. I moved back and zoomed into the flower. Most of the digicams I have won't focus in macro mode if you zoom and are too close to the subject, but if you move back enough, they will focus. I set the exposure compensation to minus 1 1/3 because it helps with red flowers. In Photoshop I selected the red and did a selective color adjustment, adding black to it and playing with the magenta slider to try to duplicate the color I saw out on the deck. The flower was selected with the Magic Wand, inside the edges of the petals, and then sharpened with Smart Sharpen. Forgot that I also did a selective color change on the green leaves using the "yellow" choice in image/adjust/selective color, to get rid of the overly yellow tone of the original.
