Pileated.jpg

This was a lucky catch by Regina, since pileated woodpeckers are notoriously shy and hard to catch. I am assuming she used a big zoom because I saw a bit of CA (chromatic aberration or color fringing) which you often get with big zooms. I removed much of it with a desaturation of the color (selected the comb first so it didn't get desaturated). I also added a duplicate layer with a blend mode of "multiply" to make the black feathers blacker. Finished with sharpening with the FocalBlade plug-in. THEN...I noticed I did not remove the bluish tinge to the feathers so I went back and tried desaturating that color but it didn't work. I realized it wasn't blue, but cyan. Took the eyedropper and clicked on that color in the hue/saturation adjustment box and desaturated it. See the next picture.
