I really liked this picture and played with it a bit. First used image/adjustments/gradient map with gray as my foreground color in the tool palette. Did a crummy job getting rid of the date but I was very happy with converting it to grayscale and then adding grain with filter/texture/grain in Elements (also in Photoshop).
