Backlit pictures can be hard to expose. For this picture I used the Paint With Light II action in Photoshop to lighten Aidan's face. There are many other ways to lighten just parts of an image and it helps to have an editing program that will allow you make selections in which you can edit, leaving the rest of the image alone. If you are beginner, please don't be afraid to ask questions of Digipets members. We're here to share. (P.S. The white carpet on the window sill has "burnt out" area - overexposed spots with no detail. This is a chronic problem with ALL digital cameras and can be partially dealt with by making an adjustment to camera settings to underexpose the picture ("exposure compensation"). Making such an adjustment will often make the darker area too dark, but they can be edited lighter in your editing software. In the case of this image, the subject matter, I think, is more important than the exposure!)
