The Yellowstone River had crested at over 9 ft and the water flow on nearly all tributaries was incredible during our visit. The Firehole Canyon features sharp contrasts that are a delight and a challenge for photographers - a sheer canyon wall that rises hundreds of feet blocking most light, deep shadows and ravenous mosquitoes.
