End of Fairy Falls trail and the start of the trail to Imperial Geyser. I was solo hiking this day and the trip to Fairy Falls was about 3 miles from the trailhead (one way). I started down the trail to Imperial Geyser, which narrows significantly to the width of one person walking single file. After about a hundred yards, I spooked something large in the brush which went crashing away in the woods. Since I was the only person on this segment of trail and hiking alone in bear country, I reversed direction and quickly hiked back out. Three days later, a pair of hikers suprised a grizzly near Canyon Village and one of the hikers was fatally mauled.
