Model A Ford Foundation Inc, (MAFFI)
Ford Model A Museum at the Gilmore Car Museum
Ford Motor Company began production of the Model AA Service Car
Wrecker in December 1930 with bodies provided by Briggs Manufacturing.
Only 521 were built, and very few remain today. Developed for local
garages, service stations, and Ford Dealerships, they sold equipped
for $790.00. That included a 3-ton mechanical hoist manufactured by
Weaver, a unique built in tool box in the cargo area and a raised
sill to keep small objects from falling out.
The slab-side construction with the chrome rails resulted in a very
appealing design. It also featured full-length running boards and rear
fenders not typically found on AA trucks. The side-mounted spare tire
and indented driver's door were used only on Service Car Wrecker and
the dump truck bodies.
