This 1969 Trans Am convertible is one of eight built before the convertible
body style was eliminated from the 1970 F-body platform, one of four with a
4-speed manual transmission, and the ONLY one not fitted with a center console.
There were only eight Trans Am convertibles made in 1969, four automatic and four
manual transmissions. All eight of the convertibles are now accounted for. This
example was the last to be found. Originally a Canadian delivered car, it was in
Canada for its first ten years until it was in an accident and made it's way from
a salvage yard in Canada - to a salvage yard in upstate New York - where it was
ultimately found in a pole barn in the mid-90s by a Michigan-based Pontiac collector.
It was missing its engine and transmission, and had serious rear body damage from the
original accident. Rick Mahoney purchased the rare ragtop in 2014 and it was immediately
sent to Scott Tiemann at SuperCarSpecialties in Portland Michigan for a complete concourse
restoration. It was debuted to the public at the MCACN Car Show in Chicago, November 2016.
