Shiprock Pinnacle

Shiprock is a rock formation rising nearly 1,800 feet above the high-desert plain on the Navajo Nation, about 40 miles west of Farnington, NM, along US Route 491. It peak reaches an elevation of 7,178 feet above sea level. It is located in the Four Corners region and plays a significant role in Navajo religion, mythology and tradition. It is also the center of the Ancestral Puebloan civilization. The Navajo name is Tsé Bit'a'í, "rock with wings", for the peak refers to the legend of the great bird that brought the Navajo from the north to their present lands.

Shiprock pinnacle is visible from many directions for many miles.
