Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument (NM)

Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument is located about 85 miles southeast of Albuquerque along US route 60. The visitor center is in the town of Mountainair. The NP is comprised of three separate ruins: Quarai,a thriving pueblo before 1700, was abandoned about 1670 because of strife between the priests and and the politicans on the treatment of the Indians; Abó, a thriving pueblo before 1600 but was abandoned about 1675; and Gran Quivira, the largest of the Salinas missions was brought to an end when the spanish priests tried to exterminate the old religion.

We only visited Quarai
