2011 August NM Las Cruces Vetrans Memorial Park

Old Town Mesilla's (OTM)history currently states that Cura Ramón Ortiz was commissioned to settle Mesilla in 1848-1850. However, as early as 1598 settlers were passing through on the way towards Albuquerque. Las Cruces is still a major "crossroads" in the western transportation corridors.

This memorial park is located at 2651 North Roadrunner Parkway, Las Cruces, New Mexico. The site is east of I25 and south of US Route 70.

The park includes a wall that lists residents of Doņa Ana County who were veterans of past wars and a sculpture and memorial about the Bataan Death March in the Phillipines.

The wall containing the names of the Doņa Aņa County vetrans who served in the major American wars is a strong reminder that honoring the vetrans is not a forgotten activity. The wall with its names sent a wave of chills from my neck down to the rest of my body. My congratulations to Doņa Aņa County for their efforts.
