We spent a half day here. We could not believe the difference in landscape between here and the south rim. We arrived in the pm and it was raining and the fog prevented us from seeing anything. However, in about a half an hour the fog started lifting, the sun was trying to poke it rays through the fog and clouds, and there were occasional showers. The lighting turned out to be exceptional, clouds, rain and the sun's rays in the same view. Our timing could not have been "planned" better.

We have been to the south rim many times, but the vista comparison is like an entire different place. Our photos were all taken from the lodge's veranda or a nearby trail.
