2011 October UT Cedar Breaks NM

Cedar Breaks NM is one of the highest (elevation) in the National Parks System. The visitors center is 10,350+ feet above sea level. Coming in from the north, the first overlook that appears is Cheesemen overlook, elevation 10,354.

There are many vistas in the NP's in southerrn Utah, but in my opinion, Cedar Breaks NM has the grandest view. It is a huge amphitheater.

Again the photos does not do justice to the vast expanse of the amphithearter. It is overwhelming, more than 2000 feet deep and over three miles in diameter.

My (dick) personal thrill was to see, touch and photograph one of the oldest living trees on the planet, a Bristlecone Pine (BP). The BP in the photos was said to be well over a thousand years old.
