This is another site in the national park system dedicated to the memory of first people to settle the west. As early as the year 1100 ce, Ancestral Pueblo people began building at Aztec.
Although all the ruins are important, a "great kiva" was reconstructed in 1930. A great kiva is a place of santuary, education and a place of community events.
