As I watched the shrike it leaned forward. i thought it was going to fly so I was surprised to see it cough up a good sized pellet. One forgets that they do this like other birds of prey. I watched a utube video of a shrike that was actually mimicking song birds to lure them in. It looks like a rather innocent bird to be nicknamed the "Butcher Bird" for it's habit of impaling it's prey on a thorn or barbed wire.
