We are very lucky to have had an eagle pair on a nest with relatively a good view across a river. It is a bit far away for a camera to get a full frame shot, but it is unusually close to people and an active lock with workers and barges. After talking to an expert, he explained that the water between us and the bird allows for it to feel safe. It's been a great opportunity to see a bird that may want to normally be a half a mile away when nesting. Last year, I believe it had one successful chick.
