Tapichalaca Lodge

The Tapichalaca Reserve in the pass near Quebrada Honda, was founded by the Jocotoco Foundation in order to protect the habitat of the humid montane forest onthe east slope of the andes near its crest. This area extends south from the Podocarpus National Park. This is a forest of gnarled trees, giant stands of bamboo, and bromeliads and is the home of the bird found here in only 1997, the Jocotoco Antpitta, from which the foundation takes its name. It is also habitat for a number of rare Andean birds.
