Birds

The highlight of the visit to the Mindo area was a visit to the refuge of Angel Paz. Senor Paz and his family have created a place where people may come and see Antpittas which are normally very secretive, shy and notoriously difficult to see. He has gotten them acustomed to people by feeding them worms. They will come when he calls them; yes, he has given them all names. Maria, a Giant Antpitta is his most reliable antpitta, and when we visited, she was eager for her worms. We also saw her grown son and a nest where she is preparing for her next brood.
