A screen clip at 100% from Nikon ViewNX showing focus point on the tree branches the Cormorant is launching from. The lens is Nikon AF-S VR 18 - 200mm f3.5-5.6G IF-ED.
I should have taken this at f6.3 rather than f8 for a better comparison, a Heron and cloudy weather would have helped too!
