And, these young women can play ball, too!
Recently I started participating in "We Spotted" a program with Buffalo.Com, a web site run by the Buffalo News here in, none other than, Buffalo NY. Buffalo.com “We Spotted” sends selected photographers out to community events to capture the events with the intent of drawing the people in the crowd, of whom you have taken photographs, back to see their pictures at “We Spotted” on Buffalo.com.
It has been a real kick for me and a certain departure from my usual photography of buildings and neighborhoods. I have learned, or am beginning to learn you need to know your stuff when you're doing this kind of work. You don't have much time to be thinking about how you want to set your camera and compose the image. Things happen fast and thinking about how to set your camera is not really in the time frame. You need to know that, and it has to come quickly. I have never taken so many blurred, out of focused and badly exposed shots in my short photography life. Just like this shot I happened to notice, just before the game was to start, the whole team was pretty much standing around together. In seconds they were in this pose and the shot snapped. Thus the cut off head of the girl in the back row. It still was good enough so I knew the team would enjoy looking at it when they visited "We Spotted" on their computers back in their dorm rooms.
Bottom line, it has been fun and I've done jobs from this college softball game to men’s rugby to "Clean Up The Beach Day" to " March For Babies" to "Paint The Sky With Kites" and this weekend I am to do a semi-pro football (soccer) game.
