East Aurora With The Ball

It is really really hard to take good shots at a night high school football game.
The light is just not there. Using 70-200 2.8 IS lens at 3200 ISO I underexposed
nearly a full EV to get the speed to a point to almost catch the action. I used All
Servo on my Canon and I found Center Weighted Metering to give me more speed.

The guy in white repersents the school where my daughter, for most of her school years and step daughters went to school (East Aurora)
and where we live. The guy in purple was playing for the school where I went
to high school (Springville Griffith Institute) and wore #64 for the mighty Griffins.
On this night the mighty Griffins looked like the tired Grandpas. Wow did Springville
look bad!

Don I shoot alot of High School games for my job, and the light is usually horrid ...I find I can stop the action if I go to 1/320 ..Mid field is best and usually the lighting is a little better on the Visitors side of the Field ( the lights are closer to the field ) I also use noise ninja to clean up the noise ..with the 50 d I need to shoot at 3200 most of the time ..with my 7d I can shoot at 6400 in a pinch ...this is a very nice capture BTW ....
