The loaner

I am really shocked how different it is.
Sure, I made decisions when I bought mine.
The S model, the goofball mirrors.
The chrome (yeah, the chrome).
Unfortunately mine had an issue.
So back to Inskip it went.
Now the story gets interesting.
They thought they could fix it quick.
However, it was a bigger problem than they thought.
After a couple hours they knew it would be a while.
And that was when the service manager asked…
"Do you want a loaner?"
I didn't prod or bitch, he just asked.
They had this ready in about 10 more minutes.
So now I get to review the MINI Cooper (regular).
Right away I will tell you it is not a fair test.
After all, I own the S model now.
So right away this car is going to lack.
Some of which I expected…
For instance, not having the sport seats.
The seats in my S just hold you tight.
They feel very secure driving.
The regular seat just doesn't hold you.
It is ok, but you don't feel attached to the car.
Same thing with the suspension.
It is a bit softer without that yell in corners.
Driving the S around a corner, it is on rails.
This one feels a bit more like a regular car.
Sure, WAY better than a "regular" car, but…
Well it just isn't the same.
I could probably overlook a lot of that though.
I mean really, it isn't an S.
It is meant to have less handling and power.
But this car has one unforgivable sin.
You can't see it from outside though.
It is the automatic transmission.
Now I understand they have it as a loaner.
I also know not everyone drives a stick.
But it is a MINI COOPER!!!
I just don't think they were meant to be like this.
I keep wanting it to be like mine.
Just that one change and I would like it.
So far I have gone for the clutch twice.
I quickly found out the brakes work fine :-)
But there is something I do want to say.
I want to thank Inskip MINI's service department.
That is how you handle a customer well.
You try to solve the problem quickly.
If you can't solve it, you take care of the customer.
It sounds so simple and they did it well.
I wish Apple would learn that (because they suck).
