Blast from the past

Everything happens in its own time.
Such as it is with this little picture.
I was cleaning out my basement today.
I found this at the bottom of a box.
The box has moved with me the last couple times.
It was mostly an ignored box but I was cleaning out, so...
I opened it and found this tape recorder.
A couple people that know me very well may recognize it.
This tape recorder had a very special purpose.
It was used to transfer messages between hospitals.
Messages from Boston Medical Center to U. Mass Medical Center.
Messages of hope and strength and of the will to live.
I remember recording them like it was yesterday.
Putting aside anything I was going through to record them.
The time I took before recording them so I would sound strong.
I listened to a quick snippet from it.
They are very raw and pained, yet hopeful.
After all that has transpired since then they are true.
They are from me to another person giving encouragement.
They are messages of hope from another time.
I don't think they will ever be listened to again.
However, in their time, they were my entire reality.
Today they are messages from the past.
Tomorrow they shall be fading memories.

I wonder what I would say if I recorded one last message.
Would it be of encouragement or would it now be of anger?
It would say that the past is to learn from, not to relive.
It would also say that you should try to be stronger each day.
Sure there will be setbacks along the way, but try anyways.
You just never know what you can do when you try.
You might even live.
