Originally owned by the Joyce family as a residence. It is now a hotel. It is the site of the last Royal visit to Ireland before Irish independence. The King and Queen are said to have had hot toddies (hot port) with the family. Killary was a deep water naval port and the visit would have been made in the royal yacht.
