The SP SD39 Project

These three SP SD39s are being built to represent 5302, 5310, and 5323 as they appeared in 1980. See prototype photos. All are being built with Hi-Tech Details SD39 side, many Cannon & Co parts mounted on P2K Walkways to get the correct low steps and better detail on the blower duct and pilots than the Kato SD45 (Low steps) or Kato SD40 (High steps). All are mounted on Kato SD40/45 drives with high brakes.
This project is being done in conjunction with Jimmy Booth of Hi-Tech and Brian Rutherford. Each of us are doing three engines.

UPDATE 11-23-04 All the models are done and operating on DCC with full lights.

The SD39 Sides are available DIRECT only from Hi-Tech Details PO box 244, Ukiah, CA. 95482 for $15.00 a pair plus $3.00 S&H

All images (except the Tim Dickinson proto photos)are copyright by the author, and may not be used without permission. However feel free to pass along the link.
