When we got to Mont St. Michel, there were many busloads of tourists there. Some were actual tourists looking at a World Heritage Site, others were pilgrims coming for religious purposes. Apparently, there is some sort of religious significance to going out on the tidal flats and circling the Mont. What makes that more significant, for me anyway, is the fact that there are signs all over warning people that the sand isn't stable. In other words, quicksand!
