After visiting La roque Gageac, we returned to Brive and dropped off our rental car. We stayed in Brive overnight, and left for Brittany the next morning at 10:00.


The trip to Brittany started with a bus ride from Brive to Perigeux, then boarding a train to Lorient in Brittany.


That was a real experience! There was construction along the way, and it took us more than 2 hours to get to Perigeux. Mona and I had given up on the idea of actually making it on to the train, since we were so late. When the bus pulled into Perigeux train station, though, there were conductors waiting for the bus and they rushed us through the station and right onto the platform for our connecting train that was actually waiting for us! Amazing service! In Canada, you can be sure we wouldn't have got that level of support.


The train ride was another 6 hours, and we finally pulled into Lorient at 8:30 that night. Our friends Alan and Pierrette were there to pick us up, and away we went to stay at their place in Gavres..
