We came upon the police station, and we thought it would be neat to take some pictures of the station and cars for our son, who is RCMP.
I started snapping a few shots, when I heard a piercing whistle, and then "Arret ca! Pas de photo!". Two officers had just come out of the building and were telling me, in no uncertain terms, not to take pictures of the police vehicles. I walked toward them, with a silly grin on my face, saying "Mon fils est un Gendarme Royale de Canada. Les photos sont pour lui." Of course, I garbled the french, since I was nervous. THey still seemed to understand, though, and proceeded to tell us that pictures weren't allowed without permission from the commanding officer. We asked if he was there, and another officer came out. He told us that we couldn't take any pictures, because he didn't have authority to allow it.
We talked with him a fair bit, and learned lots about policing in France. I'd tell you all about it, but then I'd have to kill you . Either way, I still managed to keep one shot of the cars and here it is....
