The museum was full of what modern people would call "instruments of torture", because our concept of punishment and rehabilitation has changed so much over the centuries. What I found fascinating was the exhibit of face masks that townspeople would be forced to wear for inappropriate behaviour. Since I'm fairly uninhibited with my comments at times, I could easily see myself wearing something like this at a staff meeting.
