The images in this set are from a photoshoot during the recent Austin, Texas workshop with flash guru Neil van Niekerk. Niel is a veritable jedi-master at blending on camera bounced flash and using remote triggered speedlights in order to enhance natural ambient light. For someone like myself, whose work to date has primarily been natural light, with reflected fill - spending the afternoon learning from and shooting with Niel was a real revelation on how to seemlessly blend subtle flash techniques with ambient light, all the while retaining a "natural" non-flash appearance.

Wow. You would not guess simple flashes were used. Looks like softbox light. The jewel encrusted brass knuckles are a little frightening though!
