Kapit Bisig para sa Ilog Pasig

"Kapit Bisig para sa Ilog Pasig" means "Work together for the Pasig River".

The Pasig River is the Philippines' most prominent river system. It is in appalling condition. Everyday it is used as a giant dumping ground, for everything from commercial to human waste.

It was not always like this. Less than 100 years ago, families used to picnic along its edge.

Kapit Bisig para sa Ilog Pasig was launched on February 24, 2009. Its goal is to rehabilitate the Pasig River.

The project is being run by Gina Lopez of the ABS-CBN Foundation.

fascinating gallery. This reminds me of James Nachtwey's documentary where it showed him covering a family living in similar conditions.

Your images reveal the bigger problem; limited resources against a runaway population growth. The country is in catch-22 situation.
