Fifteen year old Ruslan is visiting his father's ancestral village of Andarbarg during the summer. He lives in Russia. While his father is Tajik, his mother is Russian.
About 6,000 people live in Yazgulom, in five different villages. Their language, Yazgulomi, is spoken nowhere else. Yazgulom's residents are Pamiri. The vast majority of Pamiris are Ismaili, but by contrast Yazgulomis practice the Sunni branch of Islam.
