Yamchun Fort is the most visually prominent historic site in the Wakhan Valley in Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province, Tajikistan. The Panj River, running in the valley below, serves as the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan (the mountains in the distance are in Afghanistan).
