Tourist dies in accident near Walvis Bay Ref: Adam Hartman
A HOLIDAY to the coast ended in tragedy for four South African visitors when the Pajero,
they were travelling in overturned about 70 km outside Walvis Bay on the C14 road to Solitaire
on Monday 30 April 2007, killing one and leaving the other three injured.

They were returning to Cape Town after spending a couple of days at the coast.

According to Gabriel Teleman of St Gabriel's Community Ambulance in Walvis Bay,
it is believed that the driver, Landerc Mathinus (42),
may have fallen asleep behind the steering wheel.

He lost control and the vehicle overturned.
Marthinus was killed on impact.
Johannes Jordaan (75) sustained serious internal injuries and may need surgery.
His son, Abraham Jordaan (46), and Riaan van der Merwe (29) sustained less serious injuries.

PS I arrive 2nd on the accident and was asked by Riaan to get help which I did
I believe that the area is prone to many accident
because of the road turns sharp left as you reach the top
of the mound and that many 4x4's are top heavy and have a
tendancy to roll over to the right.
I was a shock to see all the clothes and equipment spread all over the terain
and we drove some 10km until we manage to get a cell signal and made
two call, one to Walvis Bay Police & Detective and 2nd to rescue via emergency cell phone service.
