Kabah
An absolutely wonderful and surprising Mayan site. The detail and exuberance demonstrated in the stone ornamentation is high art, more so than most other sites. The wall of 230 remaining sculpted Chaac masks on the Codz Poop was overwhelming in the sheer impact of the spectacle of it.
Kabah is a large classic site, reaching its highest period of development around 800 AD, that has been only partially excavated. A collection of structures designated Grupo de Palacio (Palace Group) is now restored and shows the important architectural advancement of the Mayan's corbel "arch".
