Death Valley National Park, California

This is the Playa Racetrack where the rocks slide around;
that fact is only apparent by their tracks in the mud.
The really strange thing is that no one has ever seen them move!

The dark basalt formation errupting out of the Playa is called "The Grandstand".

Fascinating scenery Zane, I remember seeing a tv programme regarding the movement of these stones but can't remember the theory put forward.
Anyway, this is a superb 'isoloation' of the stone and the Grandstand in the background. +V

The dark island in the playa is enticing; it reminds me of Floating Island in Utah.
