This is from Castle Rock State Park
where these eroded sandstone rocks errupt out of the hillside
into the dense Madrone and Oak forest.
The sculpted rocks attract free climbers who practice their technique.
The moss is awakening after the recent
spate of rain dampened the forest again.
I liked the way the trees curved
as if in response to the rock's presense.
Caprured as sunset was softening the light
that filters down from the canopy above.
The cool, damp and dark mood
resonated with my own.
