These shots were from the very first session I shot with a Speedotron D402 Brown Line power pack and two M90 light heads which I bought on eBay. I used a single Lastolite 40 inch Umbrella Box umbrella for my main light, and a blue gel fired onto black seamless paper or onto white fabric for a few shots. The yellowish-orange backgrounds were created in post production by using selective color, and were originally shot with a BLUE gel. M90 units have fixed 8.5 inch reflectors which give about a 55 degree beam spread, according to the manufacturer's literature. I found a single M90 to be very good at lighting background paper, and the D402 pack was used at half-power setting and it recycled amply fast. I used a rolling 4x6 foot white fabric reflector camera left, and also used the reflector + blue gel as a backdrop on a few shots. This is the first time I'd ever used this pack or the M90 light heads. I'd give both the D402 power supply and the M90 light heads high marks for ease of use and predictability. To make the warm,orange-tone backdrops, I took shots I'd made using a yellow gel fired onto black seamless paper, and in Selective Color, I subracted Cyan out of the Yellows, to shift the backdrop toward orange.
