"The Tree" on the left and "My Tree" on the right, seen juxtaposed on a typically colorless winter's day. On many days in January and February there is little but this--flat,almost gray-scale like lighting which makes an RGB file look as if it were shot on Tri-X. I made this photograph as a statement about the LACK of color. This photo is a simple statement about winter's grayness in the Pacific Northwest. I photograph this ONE tree, through the changing season to force myself to learn to see what's right in front of me. If the light is crappy and gray, I still have to take photos. It will be months before bright sunshine and blue sky exists. I shot this on my very first day with the S1 Pro.
